The perfect storm

UK Chief Scientist John Beddington’s argument that the world faces a ‘perfect storm’ of global events by 2030

With ghastly futures of widespread ecosystem collapse and ‘domino effects on sustainability goals, there is a growing consensus that the Earth is rapidly destabilising through cascading events and possible extinction-level events. Humanity and farmed animals now represent 96% of all mammals on the planet, and at the same time, we have wiped out 70% of all wildlife (WWF). By 2045, it will be over 90% of Nature. We cannot survive without nature; it is simply not possible.

The GOES report also predicts these events with a high degree of certainty over the next 20 years, and everything is linked to humankind’s destruction of ecosystems and nature, both terrestrial and marine.

The UK Chief Scentist predict catastrophe by 2030. Well, it has already started with heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and pandemics, and it’s only going to get progressively worse and worse.

However, it is not all doom and gloom; there is a way forward. https://lnkd.in/eQeaA6UK

Their are examples of technology that can be used to treat wastewater: https://lnkd.in/dvps43rg

The water treatment systems could even make money for local communities, and there may be scope for carbon credits. If you treat waste water, it does not generate methane, which is an 80-times stronger greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

There are many simple actions that can be taken as well as changes in behaviour with regards to waste, especially plastic, black carbon and lipohydric toxic chemicals

How do we make the change? well that’s for your post ideas below……
